II International Congress on Military Operational Law

On October 1 and 2, the Second International Congress on Military Operational Law: Operations Management, New Threats and Legal Security will be held. This academic event is being held jointly by the National Army's Integral Legal Department, the General José María Córdova Military School of Cadets and the Faculty of Legal Sciences of the Pontifical Xavierian University.


Thanks to the strategic alliance that exists between the National Army, through the Integral Legal Department, the General José María Córdova Military School of Cadets and the Pontifical Xavierian University, this congress will be held to address major issues such as the role of women in the development of military operations; operational law and new threats in the international sphere; operational law and new threats in the domestic sphere; and new security threats, challenges and perspectives.


Based on the construction of knowledge through the discussion of comparative experiences at the national and international levels, the Comprehensive Legal Department, which is considered a think tank and protection for men and women deployed in the areas of operations, joins these two institutions in holding this event.


There, the experts will be able to constructively present their ideas in 30-minute panels, where the more than 250 attendees, including students from the country's different universities, the General José María Córdova Military School for Cadets, officers of the Military Forces, operational legal advisors, legal professionals, defense and security writers, legal persons and defense and security writers, will have the opportunity to document themselves in lectures that will undoubtedly contribute to the strengthening of doctrine, instruction and training, and draft laws reinforcing the integral legal security of the men and women of the Military Forces in the fulfillment of the mission.


The academic activity will bring together lecturers and academics from Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Brazil and Colombia, countries with representation from the Military Forces and the academic community, and hopes to have an impact at the national and international level, with the creation of alliances and mobility programs between the School of Cadets and the alma mater in legal areas.


Similarly, the aim is to provide mutual support in training, updating skills and exchanging knowledge between the Faculty of Legal Sciences of the Pontifical Xavierian University, the Military Cadet School, and the Comprehensive Legal Department of the National Army, in order to be at the forefront and make significant progress in the study of operational military law.


With regard to the international scope that this academic meeting is intended to achieve, there is the creation of an academic community to support and exchange with representatives of other forces in the world, so that the study of operational military law goes beyond the national framework.
